Someone asked about Robby, a young male Pitbull Terrier that was diagnosed this winter with Tetanus. Thanks for asking! Robby had his check up this week and got a clean bill of health. He is doing great and back to a happy dog once again. His foster parents just had their first baby, an adorable little girl. Robby is very well behaved with the new baby.
Good news for Robby! His foster home reports that he is finally seeing some progress in the treatment for tetanus. Robby still has weeks to go but is on the right road.
A NOTE ON ROBBY'S PROGRESS:
Robby is doing okay. There is no visible improvement yet. He is taking 3 medications and the neurologist says that it may take 30-60 days to see recovery. Since it was caught in the earlier stages of tetanus, we hope that Robby will recover. Robby's foster home does not feel that he is painful and they are dedicated to his care and recovery. (We are not posting photos as it's just too dramatic to view).
Kudos to Dogwood Veterinary Referral Center in Ann Arbor! Dr. Galle, neurologist waived charges for Robby's visit since GPAAS is a 501(c)3 non profit organization and shelter. And..........he will see two more animals for GPAAS this year at no charge. We are very grateful.
Robby will be on bed rest for the next month along with two antibiotics and a muscle relaxer. His foster home will keep a watchful eye on him. Watch for more updates.
PRAYERS FOR OUR ROBBY NEEDED: Robby injured one of his paws in the snow and ice last week and was seen for a foot infection on Monday. On Tuesday Robby was seen at Urgent Care suffering with swelling, difficulty swallowing and a tightness to his facial muscles. Robby has continued to decline and is now incoordinate. He is being rushed by his foster home to DogWood Vet, an emergency neurologist in Ann Arbor. We are all praying that they can diagnose Robby's illness and help him to recover.
RobbieMale American Pitbull Terrier, Tan & White, 1 yr, 60 lbs
Hi, I'm Robby a 1-1/2 year old Pitbull Terrier, that weighs 60 lbs. I'm a sweet boy that is obedience trained and I behave really well. You'll be so proud to have me by your side. I'm crate trained, and good with other dogs. It's unknown whether I get along with cats, but I'm best with older children because I'm big and strong and I don't want to accidentally knock the little ones down. Since I'm a strong boy, I need an experienced owner who will maintain my training. I'm really good looking too, don't you think? I just know you want to be my best friend, so if you do, please call the office and make an appointment to see me. I'll be waiting to hear from you!
