Since we formed 26 years ago, Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society has never put a dog to sleep because of space restrictions. Today, we have a record number of homeless animals with more coming in almost daily. All our dogs are vetted, vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. We can speak to each dog's temperament because they are walked several times a day and spend time with our office staff as well. If you are looking for a loving companion or know someone who is, please fill out a no-obligation application or share our posts. We have big dogs, little dogs, purebreds and mixes.

Money will buy you a good dog, but it won't buy you the wag of their tail. Please adopt.

ADOPTION PROCESS

 Step 1: Requirements to Adopt

All pets living in the household must be sterilized and up-to-date on vaccinations. Interested parties are required to provide current vaccination and sterilization certifications either from their own veterinarian records, or grant GPAAS permission to contact your veterinarian’s office for verification.
All family members living in the same household must attend a scheduled meet and greet with the pet to ensure compatibility.

Meet and greets with current household dogs are required and arranged at our facility. Meet and greets with cats are dependent on certain situations but generally are not required.

Step 2: Pre-Adoption Application

Please complete and submit the dog or cat pre-adoption application form below. There is no obligation to begin the GPAAS adoption process. We look forward to matching the most compatible rescue pet with your home.

Step 3: Pre-Adoption Interview

Telephone interviews are required to learn more about an applicant's home environment and information provided on their submitted pre-adoption application. This is also a great opportunity for interested parties to ask any questions. As our public weekend adoption events gradually resume (post-COVID) interviews may be conducted on-site after an adoption coordinator reviews your application & verifies applicable veterinarian record requirements.

Step 4: Book A Meet & Greet Appointment

Meet & Greet appointments are scheduled AFTER submitting the pre-adoption application and completing an interview. Once a pre-adoption application has been submitted and telephone interview is complete, appointments may be booked by telephone (313-884-1551) or through email ( gpaas@wowway.biz )

In addition to feeding and medication instructions, GPAAS provides recommendations and information in regards to any supplies needed for your new pet.
